Week 7 – Yup, I’m afraid I’ve had to go from a once-a-day to a once-a-week. Hopefully this will keep me from getting bogged down between a full time job, side projects, family time, and hobbies :-) So It’s official… Spring has sprung and life is once again filling the Kansas plains and our nostrils with sneeze-inducing pollens.

Time to break out the strobes again. The shots of David a few days ago were just too Flat. Today I’m trying to emulate a shot my friend Justin Cary took recently. While this isn’t near as good as his, it’s got more depth and is a better shot than my last one… so we’re getting there.

Finally Starting to get back into the photo of the day! The family and I went to the Oklahoma Aquarium over the weekend and enjoyed some time together looking at the wonders to be found underwater. Jellyfish are remarkably interesting to look at, so that what I’ve chosen to show you for Day 43. Check out all the Aquarium photos I liked on my flickr page.

Similar to the college student that fits four years of college into six years, it looks like I’m going to fit a years worth of photos into a year-and-a-half. My apologies for being unable to pick up the camera as of late, external commitments have been keeping me so busy I couldn’t take the time to shoot something. I’m hoping that this weekend I’ll have some chances to bring you some awesome stuff! Stay tuned…

I enjoy the writings of the late Douglas Adams. His unique blend of comedy and science fiction was brilliant. I had initially planned on paying some sort of homage to his famous joke about the number 42 being the ultimate answer – to life, the universe, and everything. Instead I find myself thinking more about his famous atheism and the unlikelihood of his ever accepting God’s Truth. So instead of presenting a punny dipiction of Mr. Adam’s humorous answer to life, the universe, and everything… I present one of my favorite portions of the genuine answer.

I ordered some fancy-schmancy strobes last week so that I could do some portrait-style shots as well as have better control over my lighting. Today was my first chance to pull them out and do something with them, so I sat David down and started experimenting. I dont think my first attenmpts are that bad, honestly… but I still have a long way to go!

This will be the last time (for a while at least) I use something on this particular stretch of road for my POTD. I honestly thought this old barn was abandoned until today when I saw this horse out with it.

It’s a lot of fun to walk around the shop at work and take in all the gear and massive tooling we build…

Back at the creekbed I was at a couple days ago, but in a different location. This time the steepish banks and this big gnarly tree caught my eye.

For various profound and awesome reasons – but mainly because I forgot – I didn’t take a photo yesterday. Oh well, I’ll just extend the amount of time I do this and pretend that yesterday never occurred :-) This wagon can be found near the old mill theatre in Buhler. Gabe and I went hunting for pictures today, and I’d never been down that direction, so we gave it a shot…
