For various profound and awesome reasons – but mainly because I forgot – I didn’t take a photo yesterday. Oh well, I’ll just extend the amount of time I do this and pretend that yesterday never occurred :-) This wagon can be found near the old mill theatre in Buhler. Gabe and I went hunting for pictures today, and I’d never been down that direction, so we gave it a shot…

Today’s shot was taken out in the middle of Amish coutry. There’s this old creekbed that’s rather small, but also has fairly steep banks and twists and curves in really cool ways. This part of it actually wasnt what I had in mind when planning todays shot… so I may revisit this little creekbed for other photos in the near future.

I’m trying to get more precise information about the manufacture date of this machine. It was either 1897 or 1910. This is what’s known as a “Pique” sewing machine, and is used for sewing gloves together. This particular machine is the one my Great Grandmother used after coming to the USA from England. ** UPDATE ** This machine was manufactured on July 20, 1897 and is a Model 16 Pique Machine, in Singer’s industrial family of machines. Sweet!

I’ve been taking a different route to work the last few days, and stumbled across this really cool looking old house. While not necessarily abandoned, it’s certainly uninhabitable.

I took this one in my office today. A bunch of steel ball bearings, a mini slinky, and a magnetic base make for endless fun.

These guys were all spread out around a field until I showed up. Apparently they thought I was the bearer of food because they came my way when I got close to take a picture.

One month down, 11 to go! Today I spent quite a bit of time with my son Gabe finding lego pieces and building this little set. Finding lego pieces is both easy and insurmoutable at my house, as we have seven bajillion of them, but you have a hard time finding just the right pirce. Anyway, this is my homage to both Lego (which I spent a lot of time with as a kid) and some of George Lucas’ (and to some degree Steven Spielberg as well) best known work.

Another experiment in light painting. This is the first photo I’ve wanted to give a title to. For various numinous and ineffable reasons, I’ve decided to call it “Worship”.

It was either this, or a brick of cheese. Don’t ask.

Today I decided it’d be fun to photograph my small Southern Pacific toy train. I have a special fondness for the now-defunct Southern Pacific railroad – my grandfather used to build and maintain the microwave communications systems for them.
